Hailing from Antwerp, Pomrad is the 23-year-old electronic savant and jazz trained keyboardist, producer and live performer whose second EP, “This Day” lands to a feverish, homegrown fanbase. Built around his electric stage shows, it’s his new school re-imaging of synth-addled boogie, funk and hip hop that delivers a sound of a true virtuoso musician. At Red Bull’s Elektropedia Awards 2012, Pomrad was nominated for Artist of the Year, Breakthrough Artist, Best Live Act and Best Album.
“This Day” sees the young artist steady on the rise, a multi-faceted EP on an even more accomplished level than his debut, inspired by Herbie Hancock and Frank Zappa through to Belgium’s global beats ambassador, Lefto. Pomrad adds a certain European futuristic sensibility, as witnessed live during his March – May 2013 European Tour. One that sees him crash land at the forthcoming Earnest Endeavours London live event at Village Underground on 10th May, with Pomrad opening for Rustie and The Gaslamp Killer.
“Pomslap” (which can be DL’d for free here) opens with that trademark boogie future funk whilst “Smooth & Silke” adds a pummeling yet soaring beat down to Pomrad’s signature sound. “Bofhaun” and “Dwang” show off his more experimental and laid back slow jams vibe before soaring into “This Day” and “Summerscent”, stunning festival, sun down closers completing the package.
